Back in 2017 I became a major user of trading bots. Back then I was under the impression that only major institutions and whales could access these algorithmic trading bots, sniping profits over and over and watching these things print money.
I saw ads for things like Haasbot, Gunbot, Profit Trailer and others and thought, if this is real…I’m going to crush it. The first license I got was for Gunbot which at the time was so complicated to setup, I ventured into Profit Trailer.
At the time Profit Trailer was a software download you would run locally (or on a VPS), connect your Exchange API’s, set your strategy and let her rip. It worked. It worked well, and I began putting out regular content on Youtube sharing my strategies and my gains. It wasn’t uncommong for me to make $1,500 in profit in a day or two. Then the bear market hit and I learned that Bot Trading on Spot Exchanges is a losing battle because all prices basically just drop in bear markets unlike a Bull market where there is either lots ov volatility (great for bots) or accumulation before big pumps.
I then worked out a deal with a full stack Developer to build Crow Trader, which is a great bot, dont get me wrong. It’s by far the easiest bot to setup and run at profit in the right market but its difficult to keep up with the API changes from various exchanges which always throws a wrench in things. Crow Trader never really sold a ton of licenses which made the dev costs difficult, so I ultimately relaxed on bot trading last cycle.
Now, in 2024 I’m feeling that itch something fierce. Like treasure hunting, Bot trading can be very fun, exciting and profitable. Creating new strategies is like writing a treasure map and then hoping you can find the X. So, I began starting back into Bot Trading recently.
Profit Trailer - Now, they are primarily cloud based though you can run it locally still. It’s still a great bot but the community has died substantially and the owner/founder has changed a lot of things to the bots detriment. I reccently spent 3 days just trying to get the bot to run with very little support on their Discord. Elroy, the founder has been on vacation for two weeks, so its understandable he wasn’t around, but back in the day the community was so strong there was always someone in chat to help with questions. It’s still difficult to get setup and the licensing system is a major pain in the ass, however, the interface is by far the best and setting up strategies for the bot can be either as simple or complex as you’d like to get. You can also use Claude AI to write strategy files for you now which is huge. Just tell Claude what you want, let it write the strategy files and test em out. I paln on diving into it further to see what I can get going but I’ve grown so frustrated trying to get it setup that I need a break already.
GunBot - As being one of the firs tbots I ever bought and never actually used, since 2017 I noticed they have made some significant upgrades to both the interface and functionality. I decided I would work on getting Gunbot going and see what was possible. The one thing about Gunbot is, I actually have commited support. I’ve been in a Telegram chat with a dev that has been helping me get things setup, point me to resources, strategies, etc. A breath of fresh air for what is ultimately a fairly complicated endeavor.
Crow Trader - Waiting on my dev to finalize some new updates. Crow Trader is capable of running alert trades from Tradingview now which is a big deal. You could effectively either take Tradingview Strategies, back test them and take the good ones to setup trade alerts for buys and sells, pipe them into Crow Trader and trade on autopilot. I’ll be running Crow Trader again soon as even the default Bollinger Band settings out of the box with some DCA tiers can run very profitable as long as you’re not trading shitcoins that dump all the time. Stick to primary coins with a 10 Tier DCA and it can do very well.
In any case, this is what I’m doing right now so expect updates moving forward.
